Pre-Application & Informational Meetings

Pre-application conferences or “PAC”s are tailored for conducting project review early in the design process. They provide a high-level review of projects to establish what types of land use permitting may be involved and illuminate potential issues that could arise during the construction phase. Through this, the applicant will gain a better understanding of the permitting timeline and fees associated with their project.

PACs are mandatory for all of the following projects:

  • Allowable Use Permits

  • Conditional Use Permits

  • Major and Minor Subdivisions

  • Public Way Vacations

If your project does not fit into any of these categories you can request to speak with the Planner on Call (POC) to discuss your project. They can be reached via phone, at: (907) 586-0753 ext 0, or by email, at [email protected]

To request a pre-application conference, email us at [email protected]. The following items are needed at the time of request:

  1. A descriptive narrative of the project. The more details the better!
  2. Plans that are relevant to the project.

After a brief evaluation of the narrative and plans, we may request additional information to ensure a productive conference. Once we have received your PAC request, additional information may be required. After all materials have been received your PAC will be scheduled. PACs are typically set on Wednesdays, within two weeks, to allow staff time to review the plans and have a draft report ready during your conference. Staff members from various CBJ departments may attend the conference, as well as outside agencies, depending on the scope of your project.

We look forward to hearing about your project!
