The building is one-and-one-half stories. It is wood frame structure with moderate pitch gabled front and a concrete foundation. Also features partial width hip roofed bay window. The building has been significantly remodeled with a hip roof addition replacing the original entry and car port. It also has a dormer along the third street elevation. Structure contains modest Craftsman style design references i.e. gable front and hip roofed bay window.
Historical InformationLong-time home of John McCloskey, Juneau businessman who with his brother and Jules B. Caro, built the Alaskan Hotel. He also was proprietor of a saloon, The Metropolitan. McCloskey came to Juneau in 1909 and died here in 1940.
