The house is a one-and-one-half story wood frame structure with cross gable roof form featuring a large shed dormer. A strip of three windows located in the front gable and the shingle roof and walls are typically of the Shingle Style. Also features at hip roof over a glass enclosed front porch. Diamond, sawtooth and fishscale decorative shingles are featured on the front gable.
Historical InformationOccupied by J.M. Davis and wife, Frances, an artist who came from England to paint the Gold Rush. The Davises made their home on Sixth Street and built a number of structures along the upper side of the street. A story is told about when the well was dug for the house, a vein of gold was discovered. The family did not mine it although gold bearing slit occasionally clogged the water lines. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
