Additional Information
The structure measures 24? x 30?. It is a one-and-one-half stories, wood framed with predominately cross gabled roof form. It has a full basement, concrete foundation and is sided with wood shingles. Two large pedimented dormers dominate the south elevation. Front gabled elevation features asymmetrical gable enclosed entry porch. Two brick chimneys are visible. One is full-length and located on the northwest facade while the other rises directly out of the roof. The building has a southwest orientation.
Historical InformationConstructed as residence for E.W. Petit, Juneau City Clerk in 1915. It was occupied between April 1917 and September 1920 by the noted Gold Rush photographer W.H. Case who is reported to have died there. Skuse family owned the building since 1920. The Skuse brothers worked at the Gastineau Mine together and later at the A.J. mine. They were life-long employees of the Alaska Juneau Gold Mining Company until their retirement.
