Additional Information
The building measures 32? x 36?. It is a one-story wood frame structure with a cross gable roof. It has a concrete foundation with wood shingled walls and roof. Small shingles are used on the roof, steeple walls and gabled ends with large shingles applied to the remaining walls. It features a pyramidal hip roofed steeple, and arched stained glass windows on the Main Street and Fifth Street elevations. Although built shortly after the style period, the structure design may have been based on an earlier design used by the Presbyterian Church in other locations.
Historical InformationPresbyterian Board of Missions erected the building in 1906 on the north side of Fifth Street. It was built to replace the first Mission Presbyterian Church, built in the 1880?s at the northeast corner of Fifth and Seward Streets. The building was sold to the Scottish Rite Masons who rented it to the local Christian Science society. The Masons later sold the lot to the city for a new school and gave the building to the Christian Scientists. The structure was moved to its present site and dedicated February 20, 1927.
