This two-story wood frame building measures 25' x 71'. It has a flat roof, concrete foundation, and no basement. The building has storefront windows on the first level and double hung windows on the second floor. Remodeled in the 1990s consistent with Juneau Design Standards. The building has shiplap siding, and four storefront windows. It retains its original massing.
Historical InformationThe building was originally the site of Louis Kubach's billiard hall as early as 1889. Kubach may have opened this building as the Old Stand Saloon in June 1897. In 1904, Gustave Studebaker and William Bosch bought the building and it continued to operate as a saloon. 1925 George Simpkins purchased the building for his bindery and stationary store. After he retired the building was occupied by the Miner Publishing Co.
