The building is one-and-one-half stories. It is wood frame with steep pitch gabled roof. It has a concrete foundation with vertical wood skirting and is sided with horizontal wood lap siding. It features full width open front porch. Structure contains modest Craftsman style design references such as the gable front and hip roofed porch. It also features Queen Ann style detailing added to the structure when it was remodeled in 1985. These features include the decorative spindle work columns, frieze and balustrade as well as gable rake tracery.
Historical InformationOwned by William Winn and family from 1902-1943. Winn arrived in Juneau in 1889 with his family which included three young sons. Winn and his brother owned the Winn Brothers Saloon at 3rd and Seward Streets. Upon Winn?s death in 1914, the Alaska Daily Empire editorialized that Winn?s legacy to Juneau was his pioneer family and the service they brought to the community.
