The building measures 28? x 49?. It is a one-and-one-half story wood frame structure. It has a hip roof and hip roofed dormer. It has a full basement of concrete and concrete block and has wood shingle siding. Other features include a pedimented gable over building appendage and wide overhanging eaves. It is an uncommon example of a Prairie School house because it is less than two full stories.
Historical InformationE.R. Jaeger arrived in Juneau in 1896 and purchased a laundry business which he operated until 1918. Jaeger, associated with Claude Erickson in the Juneau building industry, and was responsible for the construction of Hotel Gastineau in 1914. He owned and developed a number of properties in downtown Juneau. Inherited by daughter, Hazel, the house was the home of Hazel, and her husband, J. Simpson Mackinnon for many years.
