The Juneau Parks & Recreation Department looks forward to reopening our programs and facilities as soon as it is safe to do so. Because everyone is doing their part to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community, Juneau’s parks, playgrounds, trails, beaches, athletic fields, and courts remain open and ready for you to enjoy. We are taking a phased approach to reopen facilities like the Dimond Park Aquatic Center and Zach Gordon Youth Center that is consistent with current Public Health Mandates from the State of Alaska. Please check Parks & Recreation’s website and Zach Gordon Youth Center’s Facebook page for the latest information. Native Youth Olympics

October 26th- November 9th, ending with a kick off event on November 14th.  Practices will take place Mondays from 3:30-5pm in the Dzantik’i Heeni commons.

Outdoor Leaders

Group 1: Mondays and Wednesdays, October 28th-November 18th. Group 2: Tuesdays and Thursdays, Novemeber 3rd-19th. 3-5:30pm at Dzantik’i Heeni. Join Discovery Southeast to explore our incredible backyard! We’ll focus on building leadership, outdoor skills, and confidence in the outdoors through the lens of wellness and community. Activities may include navigation, animal tracking, shelter building, hiking and games.

Outdoor Cooking and Hiking

Registration for this program is currently full. Please contact amanda.lovejoy@juneau.org to add your child to the waitlist.

October 29th-November 20th, learn about cooking in the outdoors, nutrition and explore some of the trails in the Valley. Participants will hike on Thursdays and cook outdoors on Fridays from 3:30-5pm at Floyd Dryden.
