The City & Borough of Juneau Emergency Operations Center has lowered the overall community risk to Level 1 Minimal. BAM Afterschool Activities are operating with screening processes in place. Registration and masks are required.

BAM Afterschool Activities

There will be no BAM Activities the week of March 22nd-26th due to spring break. Activities will return as normal on March 29th.

BAM Afterschool is a program of the Zach Gordon Youth Center in collaboration with the Juneau School District, community partners, and volunteers to provide free afterschool activities for Juneau middle school students.

We believe all youth deserve free & fun afterschool activities led by positive, healthy mentors.

Native Youth Olympics

Mondays, March 15th-May 3rd. 3:15-4:45pm in the Dzantik’i Heeni commons. End the season with the 2021 Traditional Games at TMHS, May 8th and 9th. Practice your existing NYO skills and improve on your personal bests with coach Kyle. Beginners welcome!

Archery

Tuesdays, February 23rd-April 13th. 3:30-5pm in the commons. Learn how to shoot a bow and arrow! No experience necessary.

Cartoon Ice Skate with ice in the background

Ice Skating

Wednesdays, April 7th-28th. 12:30-2pm at Treadwell Arena. Practice your skills or learn how to skate! All abilities welcome.

Settlers of Catan

Thursdays, April 1st-April 29th. 3:30-5pm in the DHMS BAM Room. Come learn the basics and play Settlers of Catan, a classic multiplayer board game. All experience levels welcome!

The Alliance

Wednesdays, 3:30-5pm in the Dzantik’i Heeni Commons. This is a safe social space for LGBTQ2S+ youth and allies to hang out, make art, play games and more. This activity is on-going and drop-in. Registration is not required.

Story Crafters

Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 6th – April 22nd. 3:30-5pm. Join us for snacks, creative writing exercises, and independent writing time at Floyd Dryden Middle School.

Fridays, March 12th-April 9th. 3:30-5pm. Use our new tracing lights to make your own animated flip book cartoon adventure. This is a great way to practice drawing and learn a little about the animation process too!

Modays, March 29th-April 19th, 3:30-5pm in the FDMS life skills room. Try new recipes and bake fun treats! No experience necessary.

Family Activities

Upcoming family events:

Under normal circumstances, family members are invited to the last session of a BAM activity to engage in what their child has been learning throughout the program. In order to host BAM activities as safely as possible due to COVID-19, we are not currently hosting these family engagement events. Please check back in the future for more information. Thank you!
