Evergreen Cemetery
Evergreen Cemetery
Evergreen Cemetery is located at 601 Seater Street in Downtown Juneau. It became active in 1891 and was deeded to the City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) in 1907. It is rich in local history, with several prominent Alaskans interred there. The CBJ’s Parks and Recreation Department operates and maintains the cemetery today. We acknowledge that the cemetery lies on Lingit Aani, and wish to honor the people of this land, the Auk Kwaan and Taku Kwaan.
Evergreen Cemetery continues to provide the venue for quiet reflection and remembrance of loved ones and ancestors that is so important in a cemetery space. The area also serves as a popular open, green space near several schools, residential neighborhoods, and Downtown Juneau. The public often enjoys it as a park setting, using it for recreation, education, and as a scenic walking or biking commute.
