Open Turf

Open Turf is a new weekly drop-in program where residents of all ages can share access to the turf, similar to open swim or open skate. Open Turf will take place Mondays and Wednesday from 2 – 4 p.m. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for youth/seniors. Punch passes and monthly passes are available. Please be aware that children and youth must be supervised by an adult.

A variety of balls will be available for check out at the front office on a first-come, first-served basis. You can also bring your own equipment—just keep in mind that it will need to function in a controlled amount of shared space.

Winter Track Hours at Dimond Park Field House

The Dimond Park Field House track will operate on winter hours beginning Sunday, October 6.

  • Monday - Friday: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
  • Sunday: 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.

The Field House is closed on holidays. Track and chair yoga participants are encouraged to check the Field House website, as occasionally the schedule changes due to tournaments or other events.

Registration for Start Smart Baseball Opens April 1

Registration for Parks & Recreation’s Start Smart Baseball and Softball (ages 3-4) opens Tuesday, April 1, at noon. There are 20 spots available. The program costs $40 plus tax, which includes a Start Smart tee shirt. Register online under "Youth & Teen." Registration is first come, first served. All registrations received after the session is full will be placed on a waitlist. Scholarships are available. To apply, complete the online form by Sunday, March 30, at noon. The Start Smart program is for 3-4 year olds (participants must be 3 by the first session). Start Smart Baseball sessions are held 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday, April 22 – May 27, at the Dimond Park Field House. Children work with an adult in their lives in a supportive environment to learn the basic skills of baseball: throwing catching, hitting, and agility. Adults are active participants in the program.

Summer Camps Registration Opens April 1

Parks & Recreation will offer several weeklong day camps throughout the summer for children ages 5 – 13. Online registration opens Tuesday, April 1, at noon. Register online here (click the "Youth & Teen" tab). Each weeklong camp costs $118.75-$170 + tax. A total of 129 spaces are available. Camps are offered at Zach Gordon Youth Center and Dimond Park. Each weeklong ZGYC camp focuses on a different theme, including arts and crafts, hiking and the outdoors, sports and games, and even real-world DnD. Schedules range from morning- and afternoon-only camps to all-day sessions. The Dimond Park Adventure Camps offer a mix of swimming and water games at Dimond Park Aquatic Center (DPAC), active play at Dimond Park Field House, engaging activities at Mendenhall Valley Public Library, and exploration of the surrounding trails—all in one camp. Parents, please note that drop-off and pick-up locations vary between Session 1 and Session 2. Scholarships are available. To apply, complete the online form.

Family Fun Night at DPFH | April 11

The spring session of Family Fun Night will continue on select Fridays through April at Dimond Park Field House. This free event for younger children ages 0 - 6 years and their older siblings is a chance to run and play indoors during the cold and dark evenings of winter and early spring.

Family Fun Night will take place from 5 - 6:30 p.m. on the following Fridays: April 11 & 25. April 25 will be from 4 – 6 p.m. Please be aware that Family Fun Night does not include track access.

Chair Yoga

Chair yoga classes are offered at Dimond Park Field House on Saturdays and Dimond Park Aquatic Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Classes are from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and general admission rates apply. Field House and Pool Passes are accepted at their respective facilities. Due to the popularity of class and the limited space available, pre-registration is now required for classes at DPAC. Registration opens each Friday at noon for the following week's classes. On the day of class, check-in at the front desk to pay or scan your pass before heading to the event room.
