Movie in the Park | Saturday, July 26

Join us for Movie in the Park at the Dimond Park Field House on Saturday, July 26. The first showing starts at 2:00 p.m. and offers a traditional movie experience with the lights off and volume up. A second, sensory-friendly screening begins at 6:30 p.m. with soft lighting, lower volume, and captions for a more relaxed environment. Both showings are free and part of Month of Play. When you arrive, you’ll get a prize drawing ticket for a chance to win private ice time at Treadwell Arena, a pool pass, a night at Eagle Valley Center, and more. Passports to Play will also be available if you haven’t picked one up yet. Bring pillows, blankets, sleeping bags, or clean low-back lawn chairs (please sit toward the back if using chairs), and remember—only water is allowed on the turf. Learn more at bit.ly/monthofPLAY.

Month of Play | July 12 - August 8

Join us for Month of Play, a month of in-person and DIY fun taking place July 12 through August 8. Complete do-it-yourself activities, use the Passport to Play for free admission to Parks & Rec facilities, join the in-person events, or do it all. All activities are free and the more you play, the more chances you have to win prizes! Learn more at the Month of Play website.

Registration for Start Smart Soccer opens June 23

Registration for Juneau Parks & Recreation’s Start Smart Soccer program opens Monday, June 23 at 12 p.m. You can register online here. Designed for ages 3–4, this six-week program runs from mid-July through August and costs $40 plus tax, which includes a Start Smart tee. Scholarships are available. This year, families can choose from two sessions—one downtown and one in the Valley: Downtown: Thursdays, July 17–Aug. 21, 5:30–6:30 p.m. at the JDHS turf, Valley: Saturdays, July 19–Aug. 23, 10–11 a.m. at the TMMS turf. Each session is limited to 25 participants and registration is first come, first served. To ensure more kids can participate, please register for only one session. Start Smart Soccer gives young children the chance to build basic soccer skills—like kicking, dribbling, and agility—in a supportive environment with the help of an actively participating adult. Learn more about the program here.
