Administration
The Administration branch of the Finance department provides oversight and guidance for all of the other Finance divisions. The Finance Director, Bob Bartholomew, is the head of Finance -Administration and the direct supervisor to the Controller, Assessor, Purchasing, Sales Tax, and Treasury division heads.
In addition to setting the goals and direction of the Finance department, Bob also provides timely and appropriate financial information and analysis to the City Manager and other department directors regarding the overall financial health of the City.
The Administration Division is also responsible for the development of the City budget. The Budget Officer works with department heads and administrative staff, as well as the accountants in the Controller office, to produce the budget document. Budget
The City is responsible for building and repairing roads, providing police and fire protection, funding education for our youth, and maintaining parks, libraries, and recreational centers – all of which contributes to the high quality of life Juneau residents enjoy.
The budget serves as a major policy document and describes how the City intends to finance services and infrastructure. The budget is prepared and produced on a two-year cycle. The Fiscal Year (FY) of the municipality begins on July 1st and ends on June 30th of the following year.
