Lucille Palmer Theatrical Company will open in Juneau Monday night in ?Love on Crutches.? Louis Wood, the advance agent, has been in town for several days.

Fr. John Soboleff of Killisnoo is visiting the Rev. Bartnovsky of the Russian Church.

JULY 7, 1895-The Fourth of July celebration went off without a hitch and was the best yet held in Juneau. All of the local mines shut down for the day and the streets were crowded from morning until night.

R. C. Rogers, the register, and Charles D. Rogers, the receiver for the Land Office at Sitka have decided in favor of the Juneau townsite in the Bonanza lode case. They determined that no valuable minerals exist within the boundaries of the Bonanza claim which takes in much of the Juneau townsite. A. Goldstein, an owner of the claim, says the decision will be appealed to the District Court.

JULY 13, 1895-The carpenters and other mechanics who have been building the Juneau Mining Company mill will go below on the next steamer as the mill is finished and ready for operation.

JULY 22, 1895-Within a week or 10 days the tramway from the Ground Hog mine to the end of the Nowell tunnel in the Basin will be in operation. A new ore bin has been built at the entrance of the tunnel. Ore cars carry the ore through the tunnel to the Nowell mill.

Willis Thorp has purchased the Takou Consolidated group of claims for $75,000 at a Marshal?s sale to satisfy judgment. This group is one of the best producers in the valley.

The Nowell mill has been temporarily shut down. It has been at work on rock from the Bennett-Aurora mine operated by Lutes, Runkle and Bonnifield.

The new Decker Bros. store building near the foot of Seward Street is nearly finished and is receiving a coat of paint.

Willis Thorp has sold his interest in the newspaper, The Alaska Mining Record, to George B. Swinehart who has been its editor and will continue in that position. It is also reported that Thorp is selling the Takou Consolidated mill and mine, which he recently purchased at Marshal?s sale, to William Ebner. These claims, originally staked in 1880 and 1881, have changed hands many times over the years.
