MAY 13, 1893-The Dominion steamer Quadra, which combines survey work and coast patrol duties, came in yesterday morning with a party of men to work on boundary survey. She is command of Captain Walbran.

MAY 20, 1893-A new dramatic club has been formed by several ladies and gentlemen of Juneau and Douglas.

The firm of Koehler and James, successors to the Northwest Trading Company in Juneau, has established a branch store at Seward City, as the mining camp near Sherman is known. A small locomotive was recently taken to Point Sherman and track is being laid from there to the Comet Mine. It is understood it will be known as the Seward City and Berners Bay Railroad. The shorter the road, the longer the name!

The U. S. Brewery on Gold Street has received a machine for pitching beer kegs and is now completing the installation.

The men of the Juneau Fire Association did work yesterday in extinguishing the roof fire at St. Ann?s Hospital. For a time it was feared the hospital would be lost.

MAY 27, 1893-Commencing next Monday the steam ferry Julia will increase her service between Juneau and the island, making five round trips a day instead of four.

Taku salmon are now appearing regularly on the local market and find a ready sale at $1.50 each.

JUNE 3, 1893-On Memorial Day there was a parade through the downtown area, followed by services at the Opera House, with band numbers, orations and singing. This was followed by a short ceremony at the cemetery.

A subscription is being circulated among Juneau citizens to raise fund for the purchase of a site for the erection of a Greco-Russian Church. The site selected consists of two lots on Fifth Street owned by E. H. James. Some land had been offered to the church as a gift but it was so undesirable that is was decided to purchase a site. Ellengen and Rudolph, local contractors, will put up the building.

The Opera House Saloon is being enlarged and renovated.

Willis Thorp, our butcher, brought up 20 fine beeves with him on the City of Topeka and our citizens are again enjoying beefsteak.
