Douglas Mayors 1902-1970

The City of Douglas existed as a political entity from 1902 until 1970 and during that time 25 men served it as mayor or, as the title was until 1930, President of the Council and ex-officio Mayor. The first election was on Saturday, March 29, 1902, and incorporation carried by a 158-70 vote. Until 1965 the mayors were elected for one-year terms; then for two years. On July 1, 1970, the entire area became the City and Borough of Juneau. Robert Savikko, the last Mayor of Douglas, won a seat on the first assembly.
