Interlibrary Loan
Request an Interlibrary Loan
Due to a federal executive order reducing the functions of the Institute of Museum and Library Services, we do not know if congressionally-approved federal funds will be awarded. Because of this, our interlibrary loan provider has shut down, so we are currently unable to offer interlibrary loan services. We will provide updates when more information is made available to us.

General Information
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service through which you request materials that are not owned by the Alaska Library Catalog. Interlibrary Loan items come from other libraries around the country, so please allow 4-6 weeks for processing and mailing.
The Interlibrary Loan policy can be viewed on our website here.
Please check the Alaska Library Catalog to see if our partners already own the item you’re requesting. Items found in the catalog can be placed on hold and do not require the ILL process.
- ILL items typically have a shorter lending period that items owned by the Alaska Library Catalog and you may not be able to renew them.
- We cannot borrow items published within the last 12 months. Requests for new items must be submitted as purchase suggestions rather than interlibrary loan requests.
- Games (video games, board games, etc.) and electronic-only formats (eBooks, eAudio, etc.) are not available through interlibrary loan.
- There is no charge for ILL requests. Interlibrary loan materials are carefully tracked by library staff. In the event that requested items are not picked up or returned on time by the patron requesting the items, future requests maybe be denied.
