Jackie Renninger Park 35% Design
Budget: $500,000
Contractor: PND Engineering
Estimated Completion: 08/31/2026
Project Overview
Jackie Renninger Park underwent a comprehensive master planning process spanning more than a year, including a community survey and four public meetings. Completed in April 2025, the master plan established a preferred concept through significant public engagement and stakeholder coordination. The plan envisions a year-round community and neighborhood park serving all residents, particularly those in the lower Mendenhall Valley, and identifies amenities including a revamped skate park, pickleball courts, a dog park, playgrounds, including Juneau's first covered playground, and day-use picnic areas.
Following completion of the master plan, the project advanced to the 35% design phase in the summer of 2025. PND Engineering was contracted to develop plans and cost estimates for the entire park to the 35% design level. Funding for full park construction is not currently available.
Update January 13, 2026
New Line Skatepark and Corvus Design are presenting the skate park designs at a public meeting on January 28, 2026 from 6 - 8:00 p.m. in the large conference room at Valley Library. Skaters are encouraged to attend and provide feedback on the skate park concepts before the conceptual layout is finalized.
Update January 30, 2026
On January 28, 2026, a public meeting was held to review the 35% design of the park and skate park, and allow the community to provide input and refinement. If you did not attend the public meeting, please review the public presentation for the park and skate park design and its proposed facilities. A summary of the public input received can be found in the Associated Documents below.
Update May 22, 2026
The community is invited to join professional skaters Kanten Russel and Brandon Turner for Jackie Renninger Park Day from 12 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 6.
