Registration for Start Smart Soccer opens June 23
Registration for CBJ Parks & Recreation’s Start Smart Soccer program will open on Monday, June 23 at 12 p.m. Sign up online through the Parks and Rec registration catalog (under the “Youth and Teen” tab).
Start Smart Soccer, for children ages 3-4, runs for 6 weeks from mid-July through August. The program costs $40 plus tax and includes a Start Smart tee shirt. Scholarships are available: apply online at bit.ly/ZGYCscholarship or email [email protected] for more information.
This year, CBJ is offering two sessions: one downtown and one in the Valley. (Please note that participants may register for only one session, so that we’re able to offer this program to as many children as possible.) Each session has 25 spots each.
The downtown session will meet on the Juneau-Douglas High School turf on Thursday evenings at 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. from July 17 through August 21.
The Valley session will meet on the Thunder Mountain Middle School turf on Saturday mornings at 10 – 11 a.m. from July 19 through August 23.
Registration is first come, first served and all registrations received after the session is full will be placed on a waitlist. Participants must be 3 years old by the start of the first session to register.
The Start Smart program lets children work with an adult in their lives in a supportive environment to learn the basic skills of soccer: kicking, dribbling, trapping, and agility. Adults are active participants in the program. For more information, visit the Start Smart website.
