Book Signing
FREE
The Juneau-Douglas City Museum will host an open house and book signing to celebrate the release of the Empty Chair Project?s book, Quiet Defiance: Alaska?s Empty Chair Story. Written by the project?s co-founder Karleen Grummett, the book presents a history of Juneau?s Japanese American community, their incarceration during World War II, and Juneau?s support for their Japanese friends and neighbors during and following the war. It also features personal biographies and artifacts shown during the Juneau-Douglas City Museum?s 2014 exhibit, and as an homage to Juneau and the former City Caf?, it provides the backstory of how the citizens of Juneau rallied to build the Empty Chair Memorial.
You are invited to join the Empty Chair Committee?s celebration of the completion of their final project and receive a complimentary copy of Quiet Defiance: Alaska?s Empty Chair Story, while supplies last. Complimentary copies are made possible through the Empty Chair Project and its matching grant from the National Park Service.
