Full Description

The term ?Mug Up? was used in coastal communities by the mid-1800s to describe any snack or coffee break throughout the day or evening. Mug Ups were an important part of life for fishermen and cannery workers as well.?from the Icy Strait Point Wordpress blog.

The Museum launches a new programming format this year, the Mug Up. Periodically we will host a gathering for folks to get together, share snacks and coffee, and swap stories and reminiscences about a topic of mutual, cultural and historic interest. The first happens on December 6th, with the theme of ?Berries? and hosts Sarah Lewis of the Cooperative Extension Service, whose area of oversight includes ?picking, jamming and baking? and historian and storyteller Mark Whitman.

Join us for some jam tasting, recipe swapping and story sharing on this winter afternoon. Bring a jar or a berry-filled goodie if you are so inclined!
