Full Description

Sheila Kelly's book, Treadwell Gold: An Alaska Saga of Riches and Ruin is a combination of Juneau history, hard rock gold mining history and is also a frontier memoir. In its pages are first person accounts from the sons and daughters of the hoist operator, mine superintendents, and the machinist who was the author?s grandfather, plus stories of the miners who came from around the world and the Tlingit whose history in the area predates the mines. The book received a Special Recognition Award from the U.S. Mining History Association in 2011. Join us from 10:30 to noon for hot coffee as we listen to Sheila tell her family stories and share with us the process of writing her book. This is a free event open to the public.
