The Gastineau Channel Historical Society, co-sponsored by The Juneau-Douglas City Museum, will host a discussion on the history of lighthouses in Alaska including an update on the preservation of Sentinel Island Lighthouse on February 9th from 10:00am to Noon. Leading this discussion is Gary H. Gillette, Architect, and CBJ Port Engineer. Gillette has been living in Juneau for thirty years, and participating in the preservation at the Last Chance Mining Museum for the past twenty years. Gillette has also been involved with the preservation at Sentinel Island Lighthouse for the past fifteen years. Gillette is a member of the Historic Resources Advisory Committee and the President of Gastineau Channel Historical Society.
