Hurlock, Roger & Mary

We arrived here fifty years ago in the early 1940?s, along with our six sons, Bob, Don, John, Ron, Larry and Tom, having found that here in Juneau, Roger did not have asthma as he did in our original home town of Baltimore, Maryland.

He, who?d never worn blue jeans, read a book ?How to Retire to a Small Poultry Farm? and that did it. We then wound up with over 5,000 laying hens which supplied all the stores and hotels in Juneau with eggs. I became known as the ?Egg Lady.?

After a number of years, Roger being associated with Allied Artists Film Company and some of our sons being in college, we closed down the farm and moved to California with our two high school boys.

We?ve since been back here in Juneau a number of years and are the proud great grandparents of 14 great grandchildren.

Roger passed away on May 27, 2001, at his home in Juneau.
