Daily Mail Service Started Between Juneau and Douglas

MAY 15, 1890-The litigation between Dr. H. S. Wyman and W. I. Webster over the boundary between the Dora and Humboldt lode claims has been settled by the District Court in favor of Dr. Wyman.

JUNE 12, 1890-William Mulcahy has renovated the Brewery Depot both internally and externally and it is now a pleasant resort.

The Douglas City school, in charge of Mrs. Adams, will continue all summer because of a late start. The building was not finished until January and school commenced then.

Postmaster C. E. Coon has placed a set of new lock boxes in the post office behind his drug store. And a daily mail service has been established between Juneau and Douglas City with Mr. C. E. Tibbitts of the ferry Julia as mail carrier.

JULY 24, 1890-Several hundred tons of ore from three mines on Sheep Creek were shipped to the Tacoma smelter on the City of Topeka. This ore is from the Silver Queen, Golden Currie and Sheep Creek lodes.

The Alaska Mill & Mining Company, operator of the big mine and mill on the island, has been renamed the Alaska Treadwell Gold Mining Company.
