OCTOBER 16, 1890-The adjourned People?s Convention adopted a resolution to Congress with these requests:
1. That a delegate, duly elected by Alaskans, be seated.
2. That an Alaska code of laws be enacted.
3. That provision be made for the survey and platting of townsites and that property holders be granted title.
4. That schools in the larger communities be placed under local control.
5. That the present liquor prohibition laws be repealed and a stringent licensing law by substituted.
6. That weekly mail service be established between Puget Sound and Alaska.
7. That there be an appropriation for public buildings at Juneau, Sitka and Wrangell.

A fair for the benefit of St. Ann?s Hospital was held on the 13th at the Brady Building.

Decker brothers have purchased Pat McGlinchy?s building at the once thriving village of New Boston on Douglas Island and are having it moved to Juneau for use as a warehouse.

The Juneau Athletic Club will give a gymnastics exhibition at the Opera House next week.

The Eastern Alaska Mining & Milling Company mill in Silver Bow Basin has been running all summer and has produced an estimated $40,000 to $50,000 in gold.

NOVEMBER 6, 1890-Frank Starr has opened ?The Benefit? at the corner of Second and Seward Streets and looks forward to seeing his friends there.

The Silver Bow Basin Mining Company received on the steamer Signal a large shipment of 22-inch pipe for its placer operations.

Ptarmigan are now plentiful on the mountainsides above Gold Creek.

Sixty Juneau and Douglas City men have been called to Sitka for jury service during the forthcoming term. Many of them are businessmen and it is a great inconvenience to them.

A new feature has been added to the Sunday evening services at the court house. Prof. Miller?s orchestra will provide an accompaniment for the choir and render sacred music during the evening.
