3D Printing at a Glance
Our printer is an Ultimaker 3. It uses fused deposition technology (also known as fused filament technology) to soften a plastic filament and extrude it in layers to build a 3D shape.
File types: We can print 3D files in STL, OBJ,and 3MF formats.
Maximum print size: 8.4” x 8.4” x 7.8” high (197 x 215 x 200 mm)
Print resolution: Layers can be 20-600 microns thick (0.6mm-0.02mm); XYZ accuracy is 12.5, 12.5, 2.5 micron
Maximum print time: 14 hours, subject to staff availability
Cost: Print costs during the pilot phase are being paid by the Friends of the Juneau Public Library. Thank you!
Print queue: We aim for first-come-first-served service. We may shift very long prints in the queue due to staff availability, and we reserve the right to prioritize prints for library programs.
