Deadline approaching: notice of foreclosure sale by sealed bid of real property (520 6th Street)

The CBJ Assembly has adopted Ordinance 2023-36(b), an Ordinance Authorizing the Sale of Foreclosed Property for the property and home located at 520 Sixth Street, Juneau, Alaska 99801 (Lots 3, 5 & Fraction of Lot 6, Block 109, Juneau Townsite). This sale is being held consistent with State law: AS 09.35.010-.330 and AS 09.38. This property will be sold to the highest bidder, payable at the time of sale.

This sale will be “As Is” and the CBJ disclaims any warranty as to the home, the land, or the condition of either, in any way.  Because this is a foreclosure sale, bidders will not be able to access the home for examination, assessment, or appraisal. The CBJ has no keys to the building; therefore, a successful bidder will need to arrange ways to access the building.

All potential bidders should review the applicable state law about the redemption period, improvements to the property during the redemption period, and rights of a successful bidder during the redemption period prior to bidding under AS 09.35.010 – .330.

The minimum bid amount is $100,000.

Bids are due by 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2024. Bids will be accepted by the CBJ Cash Office, 155 Heritage Way, Juneau, Alaska 99801.

New pay stations make hourly parking easy in Juneau

New pay stations at CBJ hourly parking locations—Shopper’s Lot, North Franklin Lot, the Marine Park Garage (Level 1), Taku Lot, and Statter Harbor—make it easier and more convenient than ever before to pay for parking. Customers can now use credit/debit cards as well as coins to pay in person at the new pay stations, or use the free ParkSmarter app (available for iOS and Android) to pay or add time from their phone.

There are no changes to parking fees or enforcement hours. Rates are $.75 per hour in the downtown business area locations, $2 per hour at Taku Lot (3 hour maximum), and $1 per hour or $5 per day at Statter Harbor (30 day maximum). Parking fees are enforced from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday to Friday downtown, from 6 a.m. – 5 p.m. seven days a week at Taku Lot, and 24 hours a day, seven days a week at Statter Harbor.

Pay with the app: Use the free ParkSmarter app to pay for parking with a credit/debit card, add time to parking session, or obtain a receipt.

Pay at the pay station: Pay using coins or credit/debit cards at physical pay stations installed in each parking location. You can choose to print a receipt or receive it via email.

Whether you pay with the app or via the pay stations, you’ll enter your license plate number to serve as your virtual hourly permit—no need to worry about printing and displaying paper slips.

The app and pay stations are now live in all three downtown Juneau hourly parking locations and the Docks & Harbors paid parking lots. Stay tuned for upcoming changes to the parking permit system that will make it easier than ever to buy a permit, pay a fine, or appeal a citation.

Download the free ParkSmarter app for iOS and Android or learn more about CBJ parking.

UPDATED: 10th Street (Egan to Glacier) closed for construction starting June 4

10th Street will be closed between Egan Drive and Glacier Avenue for major improvements beginning Tuesday, June 4 until project work is complete. Construction is anticipated to last through the summer.

Improvements will include resurfacing the roadway after replacing sidewalks, streetlights, the main water line, and the sewer and storm systems.  There will also be minor storm drain improvements at the intersection of West 8th & Glacier Avenue.

Construction on 8th & Glacier will occur late in the project window and closure of the intersection will be staggered to ensure that it does not overlap with the closure of 10th Street. Vehicle access to neighborhood business and residences will be maintained via at least one drive lane for the duration of the project.

Please refer to the attached project map for more information.

During construction, all vehicle through traffic and pedestrian walkways will be detoured around the project area. We kindly ask that you follow marked detours around the project for your safety and for the safety of those working in the area. We understand that this can be an inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience while we work to improve this important roadway.
