Have an opinion on Electric Vehicle charging stations in Juneau? Submit comments online.

July 16, 2018 – News, Notices for Public Comment

The community is invited to learn about and provide public comments on Electric Vehicle charging and parking in Juneau during a community discussion on Tuesday, July 17 at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall. This is the second public meeting on this issue organized by the Juneau Commission on Sustainability. The public is also encouraged to submit comments online.

The City and Borough of Juneau is exploring ways to address public Electrical Vehicle charging stations and parking on CBJ property. Charging at stations on CBJ property and private property lots is currently free to the public. In April, the Assembly Public Works Committee tasked the Juneau Commission on Sustainability with reviewing options and offering a recommendation on a proposed ordinance that would require a $50 parking permit to use a municipal Electric Vehicle charging station. The Juneau Commission on Sustainability wants to hear from the public about their ideas for EV charging and parking scenarios. The commission plans to make a recommendation to the Assembly in August.

Visit the Juneau Commission on Sustainability website for further information on this issue, as well as background documents, including the Juneau Renewable Energy Strategy and the Juneau Climate Action and Implementation Plan.
