Dimond Park Field House track hours change May 3

The track at the Dimond Park Field House will be adjusting its hours starting Friday, May 3. The track will be open to the public Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The track will be closed on weekday evenings, Sundays, and holidays.

Chair Yoga at the Field House will be taking a break for the summer and will resume in the fall. However, Chair Yoga sessions will continue at the Dimond Park Aquatic Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., starting Tuesday, May 14.

For our first night of no-evening track on Friday, May 3, Parks & Recreations Movie in the Park returns to Dimond Park Field House for a free, family-friendly showing of “Wish” (PG). Doors open at 5:45 p.m. and the show begins at 6 p.m.

StoryPath Returns: May 1-7 Is “Working Boats”

The City and Borough of Juneau Parks & Recreation is once again partnering with Juneau Education Association and Juneau Public Libraries to bring StoryPath to the Overstreet Park Seawalk. Three books by Alaskan writers or illustrators will be featured over three weeks in May. Each StoryPath will feature framed pages of the story that you can read as you walk the Seawalk.

Join Parks & Rec for Movie in the Park “Wish” (PG) on May 3

Start your weekend with a little magic and join Juneau Parks & Recreation for “Wish” (PG), the latest Movie in the Park, on Friday, May 3 at the Dimond Park Field House. Doors open at 5:45 p.m. and the show begins at 6 p.m.

New diving club kicks off at Dimond Park Aquatic Center

Juneau Pools is excited to announce the launch of a new diving program at Dimond Park Aquatic Center. Starting May 14, the pool will offer introductory and advanced classes in springboard diving. Online registration opens Wednesday, May 1 at noon.

Both classes will take place Tuesday and Thursday evenings from May 14 to June 6. The cost is $80 + tax for 8 lessons. Participants must be 8 years of age or older, and 10 spaces are available in each class.

The Intro Springboard Diving Class is designed for individuals with little to no prior diving experience. In this class, participants will learn proper diving techniques, including approach, takeoff, flight, and entry. The focus will be on building confidence and mastering basic dives.

The Advanced Springboard Diving Class is designed for divers who have mastered the basics and are ready to push their abilities further. This class will help participants learn more advanced dives.

DPAC closed April 29 – May 12 for annual maintenance

Dimond Park Aquatic Center will be closed Monday, April 29 through Sunday, May 12 for annual maintenance.

Maintenance will include draining and refilling all three pools, re-lamping the natatorium and underwater lights, servicing equipment, deep cleaning the pool deck, and tile work.

During the closure, Augustus G. Brown Swimming Pool will be open to the public. AGB is offering four-week swim lesson sessions beginning April 29; register online starting April 19 at noon. For more information about AGB hours and activities, see the calendar at juneaupools.org.

DPAC will reopen to the public on Monday, May 13.
