Register for the 5th Annual Walk Southeast

Hit the trails, go for a walk, or even jump on the treadmill in Juneau Parks & Recreation’s annual virtual trek from Juneau to Ketchikan. Walk Southeast is a free and fun activity that helps you stay active by tracking miles you walk, run, or hike between May 1 and September 1. The more miles you log, the more chances you have to win in a local prize drawing or the Alaska Airlines drawing for two round-trip tickets. Register now through May 6 here (under the Special Events tab).

Walk Southeast, created by Juneau Parks & Recreation, is a region-wide activity. This year, Sitka joins Juneau, Ketchikan, Petersburg and Wrangell to vie for the title of 2024 Walk Southeast champion, which goes to the community with the highest average of miles walked per participant.  Walkers in these communities register locally, but anyone in other Southeast communities can register through Juneau Parks & Recreation and participate for a chance to win the Alaska Airlines tickets. To qualify, you must be registered, live in Southeast Alaska, walk at least 150 miles, and submit your tracker by September 3.

Registered participants have two options to track miles: a traditional fillable/printable PDF Mileage Tracker or the My Virtual Mission app. For all the details, go to the Walk Southeast webpage or Facebook event.

Join Juneau Parks & Recreation to kick off the challenge at Twin Lakes on Sunday, May 5 from 1 – 2:30 p.m. Get help setting up your My Virtual Mission app, enter a prize drawing, and add a couple miles to your tracker with a walk along the lake. Door prizes will be drawn throughout and a #teamjuneau group photo will be taken at about 2 p.m.
