Join CBJ for Community Listening Sessions to shape Juneau’s future

The City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) is launching an update to its Comprehensive Plan, a big-picture guide that helps the city decide how to grow and develop over the next 20 years. To kick off this important process, CBJ is hosting a series of Community Listening Sessions over two days at four different locations to hear directly from residents about their experiences, challenges, and vision for Juneau’s future.

Events over 2 days, at 4 locations – find one near you!

Tuesday, April 22:

  • 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Centennial Hall, Egan Room
  • 5 – 7 p.m., Thunder Mountain Middle School, Commons

Wednesday, April 23:

  • 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Mendenhall Valley Library, Large Meeting Room
  • 6 – 8 p.m., Juneau Douglas High School, Commons

The listening sessions will be open house style, with multiple opportunities to talk, brainstorm, and ask questions—you’re welcome to stop by at any time that’s convenient for you, or to stay all two hours.

What is a Comprehensive Plan?

The Comprehensive Plan is a big-picture guide that helps shape Juneau—from the types of housing available to the places you shop, work, and spend time with family and friends. It influences decisions about parks, schools, roads, and public transportation. The plan also helps protect our natural environment and support the local economy.

How can I participate?

This is just the first opportunity to get involved. Over the next three years, there will be additional chances to share feedback during the Comprehensive Plan’s three phases:

  • Phase 1: Listening and Learning — Gathering community input on challenges and opportunities to create a shared vision.
  • Phase 2: Imagining Possibilities — Exploring different scenarios for Juneau’s growth.
  • Phase 3: Shaping Policies for Action — Developing clear strategies and policies to guide future decisions.

For more information on the Comprehensive Plan update, upcoming events, and ways to stay involved, visit ourfuture.juneau.gov.
