The Regular Planning Commission meets Tuesday, October 27 at 6 p.m. in the Assembly Chambers and online. This meeting will be held to discuss a conditional use permit at Juneau Subport Lot C1.

Rezone of approximately four acres of land in Rural Reserve to Light Commercial.

Sand and Gravel Extraction permit (SGE2026 0003)

Applicant requests a 10-year extension of the existing USE2016-0004 Sand and Gravel Extraction Permit for Upper Lemon Creek with modifications to conditions and expansion of the extraction area to include two adjacent parcels in a Rural Reserve zone.

Seats Open for “Scenario Choosing” Workshops, Juneau’s Next Step in Comprehensive Plan Update

Seats for the “Scenario Choosing” workshops, the next round for public feedback on the City and Borough of Juneau’s Comprehensive Plan update, are available. Sign up for an in-person workshop happening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the following dates:

Wednesday, September 30 at the Douglas Library

Thursday, October 1 at Generations Southeast

Wednesday, October 14 at the University of Alaska Southeast Recreation Center

Thursday, October 22 at the Mendenhall Valley Library

Online workshops are also available for residents who are unable to attend a workshop in person. Online workshop feedback can be provided now until October 31.

The City and Borough of Juneau’s Permit Center is closed to in-person services today, September 23 until Monday, September 28 due to staff illness.

Inform Juneau’s Next Comprehensive Plan – “Scenario Choosing” Workshops Available Now

The public is invited to participate in “Scenario Choosing” workshops, the next round of the City and Borough of Juneau’s Comprehensive Plan update. Using community input from last winter’s “Juneau Futures” activities, the “Scenario Choosing” workshops will present a series of unique growth scenarios that explore what Juneau could look like in the future. Provide your input by participating in a workshop in person or online.

There will be four in-person workshops from late September to late October. Space is limited, so sign up to reserve your spot soon. Workshops will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the following dates:

The online workshop is available now through October 31. Participants do not have to sign up to participate; they can take the workshop and submit feedback online.

More about the “Scenarios Choosing” workshops

Feedback provided in the “Scenarios Choosing” workshops will inform the creation of Juneau’s next Comprehensive Plan, a big-picture guide that will help the City and Borough of Juneau decide how to grow and develop over the next 20 years. During this workshop, participants will be presented with four potential growth models showcasing different mixes of housing, economic growth, walkability, and infrastructure costs. Both online and in-person workshops will cover the same material and provide the same opportunities to provide input.
