Just returning from spring break? Take a free follow-up test at the airport.

March 30, 2021 – News

All travelers returning to Juneau from outside Alaska are strongly encouraged to take a free follow-up COVID-19 test 5-14 days after returning to Juneau. While all travelers from outside Alaska are required to either test within 72 hours of departure or test upon arrival at the Juneau International Airport, the follow-up test would catch if a traveler contracted the virus while traveling. Due to the virus’ incubation period, an arrival test would not be able to detect that.

If you opt to take a follow-up test 5-14 days after returning to Juneau, sign in on the State of Alaska Travel Portal at alaska.covidsecureapp.com and choose the “Generate travel voucher” tab; then return to the Juneau International Airport between 8 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. for a second test. Testing remains a critical tool to help control the spread of COVID-19, and to help detect variants of the virus.

As a reminder, travelers returning from out-of-state who are not fully vaccinated are required to strict social distance for 5 days.
