Front Street closed for Downtown Street Improvements

As part of the Downtown Street Improvements Project, Front Street will be closed to vehicle traffic from the Franklin Street intersection to Shattuck Way for the next several weeks. North Franklin Street will remain open to through traffic at this time. Traffic revisions will be made as work progresses.

In general, sidewalks on both sides of the project area will remain open to access businesses. Pedestrians should be on the lookout for any related signage.

Initial construction activities will include demolition of the old light poles, installation of temporary lighting, asphalt and sidewalk removal, and storm drain installation.

Weekly construction meetings will be held every Tuesday at Heritage Café in the Baranof Hotel from 9:00-9:15 a.m.
