COVID-19 Housing Resources
If you’re struggling to make your rent or mortgage because of COVID-19, both the City and Borough of Juneau and the State of Alaska have programs that might be able to assist you:
• CBJ COVID-19 Short-Term Rental Assistance Program (April – June 30, 2020)
The City and Borough of Juneau has created a COVID-19 Short-Term Rental Assistance Program. This program focuses on households where a member has lost their job and are unable to make their rent. To apply for the rental assistance program, please contact Shari Partin, Program Coordinator with the Alaska Housing Development Corporation at (907) 780-4475. • Alaska Housing Finance Corporation’s Housing Relief Program (June 15- June 26, 2020)
The Alaska Housing Finance Corporation announced that Alaskans who have been financially impacted by COVID-19 and who meet certain eligibility criteria can apply for one month of mortgage or rental relief. Applications are open June 15-26. Each eligible household may receive up to $1,200, payable to their lender or landlord. Alaskans can apply by completing a questionnaire and certifying their loss of income was caused by COVID-19. After the application deadline, a lottery will be conducted by Alaska Housing Finance Corporation to select recipients. For questions, check out AHFC’s FAQs or call (833) 440-0420 for assistance.
