Comment period on Juneau’s draft Cruise Ship Dock Electrification Study closes Jan. 17
The City and Borough of Juneau Docks & Harbors Department is seeking public comment on its Draft Juneau Cruise Ship Dock Electrification Study. The study develops conceptual plans, options, and cost estimates to add electrical service – also known as shore tie power – to the two CBJ-owned cruise ship dock facilities. Read the Draft Juneau Cruise Ship Dock Electrification Study here, or from the project webpage. Then, fill out this comment sheet or email comments to Port Engineer Erich Schaal at [email protected].
Docks & Harbors consulted with Haight & Associates, PND Engineers, and McKinley Research Group for the study. The Draft Juneau Cruise Ship Dock Electrification Study evaluates and estimates power availability and what impact additional cruise ship berth electrical connections would have to Juneau rate payers; and also evaluates opportunities to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of cruise ships moored in Juneau Harbor.
Comments on the study will be accepted until January 17. Read the Draft Juneau Cruise Ship Dock Electrification Study here. Then, fill out this comment sheet or email comments to Port Engineer Erich Schaal at [email protected]. You can also mail comments to: CBJ Docks & Harbors, 155 S. Seward Street, Juneau, AK 99801.
