Capital Avenue reopens as one-way street with sidewalk

Capital Avenue, between Willoughby Avenue and West Ninth Street, is reopen to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The road was rebuilt as a single lane, one-way street with a sidewalk due to the restricted width of the right-of-way. That means traffic is now only able to enter Capital Avenue from Willoughby Avenue, and exit at Village Street or West 9th. Please watch for signs, especially the “No Entry” signs placed at West 9th, as well as construction workers who will periodically be on site to complete minor tasks.

This section of Willoughby Avenue had been closed for reconstruction since April. Work included replacement of the water and sewer systems, installation of a new storm drain system with curb and gutter, and the addition of a new concrete sidewalk, as well as replacement of the asphalt roadway.
