Level 3 of DTC parking garage reserved for legislative parking starting Jan. 10

Effective Monday, January 10, level 3 of the Downtown Transportation Center parking garage will be restricted to legislative parking permit holders only. This restriction will remain in effect through the 2022 legislative session.

Although informational signage will be installed in the parking garage on Friday, January 7, enforcement on level 3 won’t begin until Monday, January 10.

Track at Dimond Park Field House reopens January 3

The track at the Dimond Park Field House will reopen to the public on a drop-in basis weekdays from 9 a.m.—1 p.m. and 5 p.m.—8:30 p.m. Individuals will no longer need to make a reservation to use the track in the evenings. Use of the track is on a first-come, first-served basis and up to 10 people can be on the track at any time during track hours.

The track is closed on holidays and weekends. Masks and social distancing are required at all times.

Registration for Coed Volleyball opens Dec. 27

Registration for Parks & Recreation’s Adult Coed Volleyball opens Monday, December 27. Register online until January 6, 11:59 p.m. Player fee is $45 per person, and the team fee is $300 for Divisions 1 and 2, and $400 for Divisions 3 and 4. Late registration on January 7 will incur a $50 late fee.

The 10-week season begins on February 7 and ends with a post-season tournament April 8-14. Find more details on the Coed Volleyball webpage.

Three key steps to remember when registering:

  1. Players register individually
  2. Team manager registers the team
  3. Team manager submits Roster/Classification Sheet (due by 11:59 p.m. on January 6 to avoid the $50 late fee)

Please note the following COVID-19 mitigation measures:

  • Masks will be required at all times indoors and during play regardless of vaccination status.
  • All players will be required to sign in (COVID Monitoring Form) prior to the game/practice, stating they are currently symptom-free and without a fever within the last 72 hours.
  • Spectators, including children, are prohibited in the Juneau School District facilities/gyms.

Community meeting on Fish Creek Recreational Area on Dec. 16

Learn about and discuss the initial conceptual plan for the Fish Creek Recreation Area at a community meeting Thursday, December 16 at 6 p.m. The City and Borough of Juneau Parks & Recreation Department, MRV Architects, and Southeast Alaska Watershed Coalition teamed up earlier this year to improve recreation opportunities and restore stream and natural habitat in the popular North Douglas recreation area. The planning team has been developing a conceptual plan for the Fish Creek Recreation Area based on feedback received during a public survey last summer combined with ecological rehabilitation goals. The team will be presenting their progress at the meeting.

Hank Harmon Public Range closed Dec. 5 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Hank Harmon Public Range will be closed to the public Sunday, December 5 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. for a private event. The public range will reopen to the public at 4 p.m.
