Track at Dimond Park Field House expands hours starting March 1

Starting Tuesday, March 1, the track at Parks & Recreation’s Dimond Park Field House will be open 7 days a week. Below are the new weekend hours and the extended weekday hours:

  • Weekend hours: 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Weekday hours: 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
  • Closed on holidays

Please note: Starting March 1, punch passes and monthly passes will available for online purchase here under the Field House tab. Single visit entry fees can still be purchased at the front desk.

Masking is required inside the Field House.

Join CBJ as a Youth Development Leader

City and Borough of Juneau Parks & Recreation Department and Zach Gordon Youth Center Division are recruiting for a permanent full-time Youth Development Leader I to work evening and night shifts at the Shéiyi X̱aat Hít youth shelter. This position is responsible for the safety and supervision of youth during sleeping hours as well as the morning as they start the day. This includes, cooking meals, light housekeeping, helping incoming youth with paperwork and getting settled, and providing supportive counseling.
 
This position is located at the new youth shelter in the Mendenhall Valley area of Juneau. This position comes with full benefits and pays $17.65 to $20.12 hourly depending on qualifications. The work schedule for this position are 4 pm to 12 am or 12 am to 8 am. Those employees whose work schedule includes in excess of 2 continuous hours between 4 pm and midnight will receive a shift differential of $1.50 per hour. Those employees whose work schedule includes in excess of 2 continuous hours between midnight and 8 am will be paid a shift differential of $2 per hour.

Presidents’ Day Holiday Hours for Monday, February 21


In observance of Presidents’ Day on Monday, February 21 Juneau Pools is using their holiday schedule.
DIMOND PARK – OPEN 12:00-4:00PM
AUGUSTUS BROWN – CLOSED
Dimond Park will resume their regular schedule on Tuesday, February 22. Augustus Brown remains closed until Monday, March 7.

Augustus Brown Will be Closed for Maintenance from February 14 – March 6

The Augustus Brown Swimming Pool will be closed February 14 – March 6 to address several deferred maintenance projects. The facility will reopen to the public on Monday, March 7.

During the three-week closure, CBJ staff and contractors will complete repairs to the boiler and plumbing system, as well as minor plaster repairs in the lap pool. The Dimond Park Aquatic Center will remain open and a complete schedule can be found at JuneauPools.org.

More work to extend the life of the downtown pool is planned for the near future, including replacement of the boiler and an upgraded air handling system to improve ventilation and humidity control. A large portion of the facility’s roof was replaced in 2021. Planned renovations of the locker rooms, lobby, mechanical systems, and pool liner have been postponed due to high construction costs.
