Downtown pool closed Feb. 14 – March 6 for deferred maintenance
The Augustus Brown Swimming Pool will be closed February 14 – March 6 to address several deferred maintenance projects. The facility will reopen to the public on Monday, March 7. During the three-week closure, CBJ staff and contractors will complete repairs to the boiler and plumbing system, as well as minor plaster repairs in the lap pool. The Dimond Park Aquatic Center will remain open and a complete schedule can be found at JuneauPools.org.
More work to extend the life of the downtown pool is planned for the near future, including replacement of the boiler and an upgraded air handling system to improve ventilation and humidity control. A large portion of the facility’s roof was replaced in 2021. Planned renovations of the locker rooms, lobby, mechanical systems, and pool liner have been postponed due to high construction costs.
