The City and Borough of Juneau Parks & Recreation Department is accepting commercial use permit applications for the 2022 season from Tuesday, February 1 through Thursday, March 31. Commercial use permits authorize commercial activity on CBJ parklands. There is a non-refundable $250 application fee. Learn more about commercial use permits and find the application here.

Parks & Recreation is only issuing one-year permits for the 2022 season. The department is currently considering changes to the regulations that govern commercial use of parks and recreation facilities. Any changes or updates to permits as a result of a change to the regulation will not affect permits for the 2022 summer season.

Avalanche and landslide hazards on Basin Road & Perseverance Trail

Recent avalanche and landslide activity in the Basin Road and Perseverance Trailhead area has blocked both Perseverance access trails and portions of Basin Road. The stability of these areas is unknown and additional slide activity may occur at any time. Existing hazards include unstable trail that is undercut by landslide and avalanche debris on trails and the road, including snow, trees, dirt, and rocks.

The City and Borough of Juneau needs to perform major maintenance work but is unable to safely do so until the snow melts and an evaluation of the slides can be made.

For more information, contact CBJ Emergency Programs Manager Tom Mattice at 907-586-0419 or [email protected].
