Public Meeting on Jackie Renninger Park Design Scheduled for January 28

The City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) Parks & Recreation, alongside PND Engineers and Corvus Design, will host a public meeting on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, to present the latest design development for Jackie Renninger Park. The session will include a dedicated workshop focusing on the layout and features of a new covered skate park.

Building on the Master Plan finalized in 2025, the project aims to transform the 5-acre site in the lower Mendenhall Valley into a comprehensive neighborhood park. Proposed features include eight new pickleball courts, a covered skate park, a playground, day-use shelters, a dog park, and other amenities. Jackie Renninger Park would provide new recreation opportunities for one of Juneau’s most underserved residential neighborhoods.

Meeting Details:

  • When: Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Where: Mendenhall Valley Public Library (Large Conference Room)
  • Format: Hybrid; participants may join in person or via Zoom. Webinar ID: 828 7571 5049

Community members are encouraged to attend to learn about the project, ask questions and provide critical feedback as the project moves through its design refinement. For those unable to attend, project documents and previous park designs are available on the Jackie Renninger Master Plan project page.

For questions, contact Parks & Recreation at (907) 586-5226 or [email protected].

Fourth Floor of DTC Parking Garage Closed, Free Parking Available in Downtown Parking Garages

The fourth floor of the Downtown Transit Center (DTC) Parking Garage is closed due to extreme snow. Be aware that water seen coming into the garage from the third floor is from an overflow of snow melt caused by a plugged drain and the garage’s heated ramps.

All open floors of the DTC Parking Garage, along with the Marine Parking Garage, are available for free parking this week through Friday, January 9 at 4 p.m. The City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) encourages drivers to move parked cars from the street into the parking garages to allow for efficient snow removal. Overnight parking is not available in the North Franklin lot, Shoppers lot and Whittier lot to also allow for snow removal.

For more information, contact CBJ Parks and Recreation at (907) 586-5226 or [email protected].
