Changes to the October 14th Planning Commission Agenda

The City & Borough of Juneau Community Development Department announces a change to the agenda for the October 14 Planning Commission meeting. Case AME2025 0002 has been postponed to the October 28 Planning Commission meeting. Public participation for Case AME2025 0002 will now be held at the October 28 Planning Commission meeting at 6 p.m. in Assembly Chambers.

Regular Planning Commission meets October 28, 2025. Here’s how to weigh in.

The Regular Planning Commission meets Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the Assembly Chambers. This meeting will be a hybrid meeting held both in person and via Zoom Webinar.

The meeting will discuss a proposed rezone from Industrial to Light Commercial zoning at 5200 and 5220 Commercial Blvd., a proposed rezone from D18 to Light Commercial zoning at 7170 Glacier Highway and a Conditional Use Permit to extend hydroelectic transmission infrastructure from Echo Ranch to the Kensington Mine.

Apply for 2025 Human Services Transportation Grant by August 25

The CBJ Community Development Department has opened the application period for local projects to apply for the 2025 Alaska Department of Transportation Human Services Transportation Grant (funding begins FY2026). Applications are due Monday, August 25 by 3 p.m.

The purpose of the Human Services Transportation grant is to ensure that elderly persons and persons with disabilities gain access and mobility similar to the general population from the use of transit facilities and services. Local communities set priorities and approve projects to proceed with a state grant application.

As part of the local process, the Juneau Coordinated Transportation Coalition  (JCTC) holds a preliminary competition to ensure projects fit into the 2020 Juneau Coordinated Human Services Transportation Plan and coordinate with existing public transportation services and human services transportation options in the community.

Join CBJ for August 25 community listening session on North and West Douglas topics

The City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) is hosting a Community Listening Session on Monday, August 25 to gather input on North and West Douglas issues. This public meeting will focus on three main topics: housing and infrastructure, transportation and roads, and tourism and recreation. People are invited to stop by between 5 and 5:30 p.m. for an Open House to learn more about the project and meet the team. A facilitated listening session will start at 5:30 p.m., with public comment taken both in person and via Zoom.

This listening session is part of an ongoing project to update CBJ’s Comprehensive Plan, a big-picture guide that helps the city decide how to grow and develop over the next 20 years.

  • 5:30 – 7 p.m. – Facilitated Public Comments (in person, and online)
