The Regular Planning Commission meets July 25, 2023, at 7 p.m. in the Assembly Chambers. This meeting will be a hybrid meeting held both in person and via Zoom Webinar link and will discuss text amendments to the Land Use Code and revisions to the Planning Commission’s Rules of Order.

A Text Amendment to the Land Use Code  (AME2023 0003)

A text amendment to the Land Use Code amending sections of Chapter 35 Public and Private Improvements including provisions to allow for subdivisions on arterials to meet the underlying zoning district requirements for minimum lot size, and revisions to private shared access.

A Text Amendment to the Land Use Code  (AME2023 0004)

A text amendment to the Land Use Code amending sections of Chapter 65 Bungalow Lots and Structures, and Chapter 25 Table of Dimensional Standards for Bungalow Lot setback requirements.

Revisions to the Planning Commission’s Rules of Order 

Revisions to the Planning Commission’s Rules of Order including a start time of 6 PM, addressing outdated pandemic language, and other minor revisions.

July 20 Title 49 Committee Meeting Cancelled

The Planning Commission Title 49 Committee meeting scheduled for 12 p.m. on Thursday, July 20 has been cancelled.

The next meeting will take place at 12 p.m. on Thursday, August 17 via Zoom.

Planning Commission To Hear Eaglecrest Summer Development Plan August 8

Eaglecrest Ski Area is applying for a City Project Review & Conditional Use Permit (concurrently) to develop a number of amenities, including the following:

  • Gondola with base station, upper station, and supporting structures
  • “Summit House” warming hut
  • Construction access roads
  • Mountain bike trails
  • Two Upper Fish Creek bridge crossings (each approx. 40 feet in length)
  • Picnic pavilion near Cropley Lake
  • Snow tubing park

Both applications will be heard by the CBJ Planning Commission at the Regular Planning Commission Meeting on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 7 p.m. in the Assembly Chambers.

Conditional Use Permit for Huna Totem Corporation (USE2023 0003)

A Conditional Use Permit for mixed use development: Up to 50,000 square feet of retail and related uses, underground bus staging and vehicle parking, and a park. Project includes a steel dock up to 70 feet wide and 500 feet long. Uplands located at southwest corner of Egan Drive and Whittier Street, zoned Mixed Use 2. Dock extends into tidelands, zone Waterfront Commercial. (See attached imagery above)
