The following items are scheduled for public hearing by the City and Borough of Juneau Alaska Assembly, on the date(s) designated below.  The agenda and packet material for the meetings will be posted on the CBJ website at https://juneau.org/assembly/assembly-minutes-and-agendas by close of business the business day prior to the meetings.

The public may participate in person or via Zoom webinar. Testimony time will be limited by the Mayor based on the number of participants. Members of the public that want to provide oral testimony via remote participation must notify the Municipal Clerk prior to 4pm the day of the meeting by calling 907-586-5278. For in-person participation at the meeting, a sign-up sheet will be made available at the back of the Chambers and advance sign-up is not required. Members of the public are encouraged to send their comments in advance of the meeting to [email protected].

Ordinance 2022-28 An Ordinance Authorizing the Manager to Lease Office Space at the Juneau Police Department Headquarters to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Ordinance 2022-06(b)(A) An Ordinance Appropriating $333,402 to the Manager for a Grant to Aiding Women in Abuse and Rape Emergencies (AWARE) for Construction of a Retaining Wall; Grant Funding Provided by the Alaska Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development.

Ordinance 2022-35 An Ordinance Authorizing an Alternative Procurement Method Related to the City and Borough’s Mendenhall Waste Water Treatment Plant Infrastructure Upgrade.

CBJ Assembly makes appointments to Docks & Harbors Board and Eaglecrest Board

The City and Borough of Juneau Assembly, at a Special Assembly Meeting held Wednesday, June 15, 2022 via Zoom Webinar, made the following appointments to the Docks & Harbors Board and the Eaglecrest Board and extended the application period for the unexpired vacant seat on the Eaglecrest Board.

DOCKS & HARBORS BOARD

The Assembly reappointed Annette Smith and Lacey Derr and appointed Deborah Hart to the Docks & Harbors Board, all for terms beginning July 1, 2022 and ending June 30, 2025.

The Assembly would like to thank outgoing Docks & Harbors Board member Robert ‘Bob’ Wostmann, for his service on the Board. The Assembly thanks all those individuals who are willing to serve and have submitted applications for consideration.

EAGLECREST BOARD

The Assembly reappointed Jonathan Dale and appointed Stephanie Warpinski and Norton Gregory to the Eaglecrest Board all for terms beginning July 1, 2022 and ending June 30, 2025.  The Assembly would like to thank outgoing Eaglecrest Board members Stephanie Hoag and Shawn Eisele, for their service on the Board. The Assembly thanks all those individuals who are willing to serve and have submitted applications for consideration.

The Assembly has extended the application period for 30 days for an unexpired seat with a term beginning immediately and ending June 30, 2024; current applicants will move forward for consideration at a future Special Assembly Human Resources Meeting with date and time yet to be determined

How to Run for Local Office Workshop June 25, 2022 (Deadline to Register 6/16/22)

This October, Juneau voters will elect 3 Assembly members and 2 School Board members.  If you have ever thought of running – now or in the future – please consider attending the 8th annual free “How to Run for Local Office” Workshop on Saturday, June 25, from 9am to 2pm in CBJ Assembly Chambers at 155 S Seward Street.

This Workshop is free, however, space is limited so please register by June 16 by clicking on the following link: http://juneaulwv.org/run/

The Workshop consists of Panel presentations followed by time for Q&A on Panel topics.  Each person who registers – and attends – receives a complete Toolkit of forms, references, and “How To’s”.

CBJ Assembly Makes Appointments to the Bartlett Regional Hospital Board, Airport Board and Extended the Planning Commission Application Period

The City and Borough of Juneau Assembly, at a Special Assembly Meeting held Tuesday, June 14, 2022 via Zoom Webinar, made the following appointments to the Bartlett Regional Hospital (BRH) Board and Airport Board.

BRH Board

The Assembly appointed Lisa Petersen to the BRH Board, for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending December 31, 2023. The Assembly appointed Max Mertz to the BRH Board, for the remainder of an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending December 31, 2022 and to a full term beginning January 1, 2023 and ending December 31, 2025.

Airport Board

The Assembly reappointed Christopher Peloso and appointed Theresa Yvette Soutiere to the Airport Board public seats, for terms beginning July 1, 2022 and ending June 30, 2025. The Assembly reappointed Jodi Garza to the Airport Board tenant seat for a term beginning July 1, 2022 and ending June 30, 2025.

Planning Commission

With only one applicant, the Assembly moved to extend the application period for 30 days for the open seat on the Planning Commission. The applicant, as well as any additional applicants will interview at a Special Human Resources Committee meeting, date and time of the meeting to-be-determined.

Ordinance 2022-08(b) An Ordinance Establishing the Rate of Levy for Property Taxes for Calendar Year 2022 Based Upon the Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2023.

Resolution 2975 A Resolution Adopting the City and Borough Capital Improvement Program for Fiscal Years 2023 through 2028, and Establishing the Capital Improvement Project Priorities for Fiscal Year 2023.

Ordinance 2021-08(b)(am)(AS) An Ordinance Appropriating $2,300,000 to the Manager for the Hospital CT/MRI Replacement Capital Improvement Project; Funding Provided by Hospital Funds.
