To encourage more recycling, CBJ eliminates $100 recycling fee for businesses

January 9, 2020 – FYI, News

Businesses no longer have to pay for an annual recycling permit to use the recycling center. Starting this year, the City and Borough of Juneau is eliminating the $100 recycling fee for businesses. The goal is to make it easier for the whole community to recycle.

As a reminder, Juneau’s new recycling center opens on Tuesday, January 14 and will operate five days a week instead of the current three. CBJ is contracting with Waste Management to operate the recycling center. Located in the current site at 5600 Tonsgard Court, the new recycling center will be open for residential and commercial use:

Tuesday – Friday, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. &
Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The recycling center will continue to accept sorted plastics #1 and #2, glass bottles and jars, aluminum cans, tin cans, mixed paper, and corrugated cardboard. For more information, go to juneaurecycling.com.
