State of Alaska Individual Assistance Open for Mendenhall River Flood Event
Following the governor’s declaration of emergency for the August 5 Mendenhall River flood event, the State of Alaska is accepting applications for individual assistance beginning today, August 10. The deadline to apply for Individual Assistance is October 9, 2023.
Apply online at ready.alaska.gov/Recovery/IA or call 1-844-445-7131 (Monday – Friday 8 a.m – 4 p.m.).
Individual assistance helps people cover damage to their homes and property, cleanup efforts, and transportation. Temporary housing assistance is also available to help with immediate housing needs, rent and utilities and repair and replacement of a damaged primary residence.
Please have the following information with you when you apply:
- Description of damages and/or losses
- Home Ownership Documentation
- Insurance information
- Personal Identification
- Proof of occupancy (utility bill)
The State recommends residents with disaster damages follow a five-step process to document damages and apply for assistance.
