The City and Borough of Juneau is currently seeking applicants for the Planning Commission and the Bartlett Regional Hospital Board. Applications must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, November 30. In an effort to diversify membership on CBJ boards and commissions, and to bring in a wide range of viewpoints and life experiences, the Juneau Assembly encourages all community members who have the time and interest to submit an application. Apply by clicking the green APPLY button on the Boards, Committees, Commissions & Task Forces webpage

Applicants for the Planning Commission and Hospital Board will be sent interview questions. Those who return the questions will be scheduled for a 10-minute interview with the full Assembly sitting as the Human Resources Committee, tentatively scheduled for mid-December.

The nine-member Planning Commission reviews and updates the Comprehensive Plan and Capital Improvement Program, as well as city and state projects. The Commission also reviews private and public development plans for compliance with adopted codes and plans, and functions as the Board of Adjustment in reviewing variances and code interpretations. Meetings are scheduled on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. There are three open seats.

The Bartlett Regional Hospital Board of Directors governs the hospital. The hospital is an enterprise fund, which empowers the board with the responsibility for the economic viability and oversight of management of medical and operational issues. Regular Hospital Board meetings are generally held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. There are three open seats.

CBJ has more than 30 boards, commissions, committees, and task forces. Individuals that serve on a board are part of the backbone of local government. For a full list of all CBJ boards and to apply, go to the Boards, Committees, Commissions & Task Forces webpage. Once received, applications are forwarded to the Assembly Human Resources Committee for consideration and appointment recommendations go to the Assembly for final action.
