Following Governor’s closure of schools, CBJ closes pools, libraries & other facilities

As part the State of Alaska’s March 13 COVID-19 Health Mandate, Governor Mike Dunleavy closed all public schools to students March 16 through March 30. This applies to the Juneau School District; there will be no student attendance or student activities during that time period. In concert, the City and Borough of Juneau is closing similar public facilities – Augustus Brown Pool, Dimond Park Aquatic Center, Mount Jumbo Gym, Downtown Public Library, Mendenhall Valley Public Library, Douglas Public Library, Juneau-Douglas City Museum, and Zach Gordon Youth Center. The CBJ closures are effective starting Monday, March 16, and will last through March 30, the same duration as the schools closure.

CBJ is also suspending Senior Open Gym, but continues to offer the Juneau Hike Program. Reservations at CBJ facilities impacted by the closure will be cancelled and refunded. Members of the public who want to cancel reservations at facilities not impacted by the closure may do so without cancellation fees.

CBJ continues to closely monitor the evolving situation and guidance from the Department of Health and Social Services. There will be additional updates to the public when necessary.
