Explore Capitol Park’s new look at ribbon-cutting on August 3
Join CBJ Parks & Recreation to celebrate the completion of the newly remodeled Capitol Park! Following two years of hard work, the park has a new look—and new places to play. Celebrate on Saturday, August 3 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2 p.m., followed by fun and games—including hot dogs, cotton candy, and prizes—until 5 p.m.
Mayor Beth Weldon, CBJ Parks & Recreation Director George Schaaf, Juneau Community Foundation Executive Director Amy Skilbred, and Juneau Park Foundation Vice Chair John Pugh will take part in the ceremony.
The park is located on Seward Street between 5th & 6th Streets. Please be aware that parking in the area is limited. Drivers are encouraged to park in the Downtown Transportation Center garage (free on weekends).
The Capitol Park Improvements project broke ground in August 2021, following several months of planning and public outreach. New features include ADA accessible playground equipment, a picnic area, an artificial turf field, safety features, art installations, and a paved walkway with beautiful Juneau views.
