Early registration for Parks & Recreation Youth Basketball & Pee Wee opens Monday, Nov. 22

Early registration for Parks & Recreation’s Youth Basketball League (ages 6 to 14) and Pee Wee Basketball (age 5) opens Monday, November 22 at 8 a.m. Early registration runs through December 3 and costs $55 for Youth Basketball and $35 for Pee Wee. Starting December 4, Youth Basketball registration costs increases to $65. Register online (look under “Youth & Teen”) starting Monday, November 22 at 8 a.m.

Space is limited and registration is first come, first served. Once a division is full, kids will automatically be placed on the waitlist. Scholarships are available; contact Recreation Coordinator Amanda Lovejoy at 586-2635 ext. 4156 or [email protected] for more information.

Youth Basketball League is about skill development, fun, and sportsmanship for newcomers and returning players. The season runs January 10 – March 12. Age divisions 6-7, 8-9, and 10-11 will be refereed by coaches; age division 12-14 will have referees. Kids will practice once a week for one hour. Games will take place on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Kids must turn 6 years old by January 15, 2022 in order to play.

Pee Wee Basketball is for boys and girls age 5. The season runs January 15 – February 19. Kids will practice skills once a week on Saturday for an hour, six weeks total. Kids must turn 5 by January 15, 2022 in order to play.

Please note the following COVID-19 mitigation protocols for Youth and Pee Wee Basketball:

  • In alignment with the Juneau School District, the City and Borough of Juneau is requiring all players and volunteer coaches have proof of COVID-19 vaccination or test weekly.
  • Masks will be required at all times while indoors, including during play.
  • Spectators will not be allowed in the gyms. Only volunteer coaches and players will be allowed inside gyms. Information regarding drop-off and pickups will be sent out to families before the start of the season.
  • If a child is sick, they must stay home from games or practices.
